Here at Gaskell Community Primary School we love bringing lessons to life with the sound of music!
Each class has a stand alone music lesson every week and we follow the Bolton Music Service scheme of work. The Bolton Music Service have specialised teachers who come into school every week to teach music and give instrument lessons so we can make sure we meet all areas of the National Curriculum. In addition to this we bring singing into our daily assemblies, class assemblies, Christmas and Summer Productions and we even host a Gaskell’s Got Talent show every year.
There are also wider opportunities for the children in our school to learn a new instrument. We host our Gaskell Brass Band, the ‘Halliwell Hooters’ which is taught by the Bolton Music Service and includes other local schools from our area. Gaskell Community Primary School loves to take part in all things musical and often performs at local venues in Bolton.
Children will leave Gaskell Primary School with a widening repertoire of music, which they can use to create imaginative and fluent performances, appreciate how music is created and what techniques are used. They will be confident in using musical terminology effectively and show a passion for different and diverse musical traditions, genres and activities.
